Billy Sunday - Peter Frederiksen (Spring 2026)

Peter Frederiksen lives and works in Chicago. Born in 1987, he attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, focusing studies on painting, drawing, and fibers. His work has been exhibited most recently in London, Los Angeles, and Tokyo.

“I like to approach textiles from the perspective of a painter, making work that blurs the lines between fibers and traditional painting and drawing. My body of work in the last five years has been primarily focused in the medium of freemotion machine embroidery, which is essentially painting or drawing but with a sewing machine. Inspired by and utilizing the familiar imagery of post-war mid-century Warner Brothers cartoons, the work examines fear, panic, toxic masculinity, anxiety, anticipation, and humor all through the lens of the shared visual language of Looney Tunes cartoons. My hope is that these pieces feel like memories, and that their violent nature causes their recollection to be questioned.”
